Cheung Chau Bun Festival
For over a century, the residents of Cheung Chau Island have held the Cheung Chau Bun Festival every year in early April of the lunar calendar to protect the island and its inhabitants, without interruption. The festival's rich traditional elements have been passed down and developed through the residents' continuous participation. The island's diverse folk crafts, such as paper-cut deities, floating decorations, making paper lanterns, and peace-making paper lanterns, along with Taoist rituals and folk performances including unicorn dances, large gongs and drums, and Taoist music, are all showcased through this traditional festival.
