The Gombak Forest Reserve and Klang Gates Dam are beside the hill and the view from the peak is worth the climb.

Before you reach the historic Merdeka Square (Dataran Merdeka) where Malaysia’s Declaration of Independence took place on 31 August 1957, the first building you will encounter is the Sessions and Magistrate Court. It leads to a cluster of colonial buildings, including the iconic Sultan Abdul Samad Building.
Transportation: 20 minutes’ drive from Silka Cheras, Kuala Lumpur / take the MRT train from Taman Connaught station and get off at Merdeka station. At the Merdeka MRT station, walk to the Plaza Rakyat LRT via the paid-to-paid pedestrian walkway. At Plaza Rakyat LRT station, take the LRT (Ampang Line, in the direction of Sentul Timur) and get off at Masjid Jamek or Bandaraya station. Merdeka Square is about 8-10 minutes’ walk from these stations.

A visit to Kuala Lumpur would not be complete without a visit to the famous Petronas Twin Towers, the tallest buildings in the world from 1998 to 2004. It is the second tallest tower in the world, and remains the tallest twin buildings in the world. The buildings are the landmark of Kuala Lumpur with the nearby Kuala Lumpur Tower.
Opening hours: The Skybridge on Level 41 is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00a.mm till 7:00p.m. (Closed for Friday prayers from 1:00p.m. to 2:30p.m. and on Mondays). Additional tours are also available for the top floor observation deck for a separate fee, with the option of a fine dining experience with a great view of the city.

Putrajaya is south of Kuala Lumpur. It’s known for its late 20th-century architecture including the Putra Mosque, made from rose-coloured granite with a pink dome. Known as the world’s first intelligent garden city, Putrajaya offers a host of attractions for both locals and tourists alike. Founded in 1885, Royal Selangor has a rich heritage of design and craftsmanship. A large pewter tankard- recognised by the Guinness Book of Records and made by Royal Selangor in 1985 to commemorate its centenary – is displayed at the Royal Selangor headquarters. It is 1.987 metres tall, weighs 1,557 kg and has a capacity of 2,796 litres. Guided tours are available and visitors can even make their own pewter bowl using traditional tools at the School of Hard Knocks or craft their own pewter accessory through the different processes of pewter-making at The Foundry (prior arrangements required).
