Cheung Chau Bun Festival
Cheung Chau Bun Festival

Residents of Cheung Chau will be busy with making papier-mâché effigies of deities, preparing costumes, baking buns and building a bamboo tower – all came from a ritual over 100 years ago when the islanders fought the evil spirits with parades. The festival is a weeklong event with Taoist ceremonies and music, the Piu Sik (floating colours) parade, lion dances, drum beating and the midnight Bun Scrambling Competition.
